Attention please: Please affix your padded kneepads immediately, as you will all need to kneel down and praise the glory of Sue came across a reference to a recording of Alan Rickman reciting a Robyn Hitchcock poem at Robyn Hitchcock's Birthday concert at Queen Elizabeth Hall on 2nd March 2003. Please alert me when the download runs out (as it undoubtedly will -- we had more than 300 downloads of the last thing I uploaded -- and I will reupload).
The poem is called If Death is Not the End, and the text of the poem can be found at the bottom of this page.
Massive thanks again to
ps. This special post has delayed a planned post regarding an obsessive set of screencaps from the new video interview that was posted at Claudia's GB today. It seems that I have located a screencap program that will automatically screencap down to the video frame level. Am desperately trying to refrain from posting 1,300+ screencaps from a mere six minute interview. *frightened look* This kind of software really should be illegal for obsessive people such as myself. Check back tomorrow for that.

And does he also say, 'I'm not going to sing, and I'm not getting off?'.
I couldn't quite make out those two things. The quality is simply fantastic. What a find!!
Robyn had asked him to read some Captain Beefheart!! My big brother spent his teens listening to Trout Mask Replica and believe me it's an acquired tast!!
I really think I need to move to London...
RE: Robyn Hitchcock: in many circles, known as the "reincarnation of Syd Barrett"!
It's a great poem. Me saying this means a lot, because I can't stand poems. And of course, the way AR reads it is fantastic. Very emotional and poignant.
and I'm going to dream about Alans adorable voice.
Thanks a lot for both of you, Sue & Cats.
Probably, you all have seen the website where the photos of the event are shown but just in case there might be someone who haven't, here is the address:

THANK YOU to grigorisgirl and cats. You've made my night. I'm actually online at home for a change and could download and listen to it.
In fact, I've listened to the part where he said my name (HE SAID MY NAME!! GAH!) for the last half hour. I'm saving it over to my Ipod. I'll probably have it memorized in the next few days (I actually memorized part of that Neruda poem. Yes, I have issues. And too much time on my hands.)
You high-tech detective Hens ROCK!
what a wonderful poem.
I bet I wouldn't have understood one word, drowning into that sound of his silken voice, if the text wouldn't have been open while listening to the audio file.
marvelous, I felt so calm and drowsy in the end, as his voice got lower and lower. wow.
The link expired!
Me needs a new one!
:)
A big smoochie smooch goes to Sue and Cats for this!
